Lucknow, 05 July (HS): Dr. Sanjay Kumar Nishad, National
President of Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal (Nishad Party) and Cabinet
Minister of Fisheries Department in the Uttar Pradesh Government, paid a
courtesy visit to the National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and
Rajya Sabha MP Nitin Nabin at Taj Hotel on Sunday on the second day of his
visit to Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. During the meeting, National
President of Nishad Party, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Nishad, presented in detail to
Nitin Nabin the major issues related to social justice and fishermen community
on which consensus was reached during the alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party
in the year 2019.
Dr. Nishad said that the synonyms of Majhwar/Turaiha listed
in the Scheduled Castes list of Census Manual, 1956, such as Kewat, Mallah,
Bind, Kahar, Dhivar, Raikwar, Batham, Nishad, Kashyap, Bhar of Tarmali, Kumhar
of Rajbhar Shilpkar, Prajapati and similar traditional communities are also in
the list of Scheduled Castes. In Uttarakhand, Shilpkar is not a caste but a
group of castes. Similarly, Majhwar is not a caste but a group of castes, it
should be defined so that the fisherman community can get the benefits of
Scheduled Caste.
He said that the alliance between the Nishad Party and the
Bharatiya Janata Party is unbreakable and strong, as the Nishad Party follows
the ideals and footsteps of Maharaj Guhyaraj Nishad, a close friend of Lord
Shri Ram, the most dignified man. The Nishad Party has always prioritized
dignity, discipline, and principles in politics and has faithfully adhered to
the alliance dharma under all circumstances.
He said that the Nishad Party's workers and officials have
always worked in a dignified manner, coordinating with the Bharatiya Janata
Party. Today, society is more aware than before, and in democratic politics,
one can effectively convey one's views to the public while maintaining decorum
and decency. He expressed the expectation that in the upcoming assembly
elections, the Nishad Party will be ensured appropriate and respectable
representation, commensurate with its support base, organizational capabilities,
and dedication to the alliance.
He stated that the social and economic condition of the
fishing community in Uttar Pradesh is extremely deplorable, in many cases even
worse than that of Scheduled Caste communities. He alleged that the previous
Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party governments, out of political malice,
acted to strip the fishing community of their rights, privileges, and
privileges.
Dr. Nishad further stated that positive discussions
regarding the accommodation of Nishad Party workers took place on several
occasions, both before and after the formation of the government in 2022, with
the state and central leadership. As a result, many Nishad Party workers have
been accommodated in various commissions and bodies across the state. He urged
that there are still a large number of dedicated workers who have not received
the opportunity for accommodation. Therefore, proper accommodation of the
remaining workers in various commissions, corporations, and bodies should be
ensured.
