
New Delhi, 05 July (H.S.): Pleasant weather continued across parts of Delhi-NCR for the second consecutive day on Sunday as rainfall in several areas brought relief from the heat and kept temperatures under control.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rainfall accompanied by strong winds is likely at several places across the national capital on Monday, particularly during the morning or afternoon hours. The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue on July 7 and 8, with daytime temperatures remaining close to normal.
As forecast by the IMD, several parts of Delhi witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall on Sunday, keeping temperatures within the normal range and allowing residents to enjoy the pleasant weather.
The IMD said that a low-pressure area persists over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts. Under its influence, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Maharashtra on July 6, while Konkan and Goa, as well as the Gujarat region, are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during July 6 and 7.
The weather office also said that conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon over parts of the north Arabian Sea, the remaining parts of Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab and some areas of Rajasthan during the next three days.
Across northwest India, including Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, western Uttar Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh, rainfall is likely over the next six days, with heavy showers expected at isolated locations.
In central India, light to moderate rainfall is likely over western Madhya Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Similar conditions are expected across eastern India, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, West Bengal, Jharkhand and the Himalayan region, as well as in northeastern states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
In western India, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Saurashtra are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, with widespread showers expected in some areas over the next six days.
In southern peninsular India, light to moderate rainfall is forecast over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana, with widespread rainfall expected at isolated places during the next six days.
The IMD further forecast strong winds with speeds of 40 to 60 kmph at isolated places over Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana and some adjoining regions during the next six days.
Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over Assam and Meghalaya on July 6, the IMD added.
