July (HS): Symbiosis Centre for Skill Development (SCSD), Nagpur is a premier

skill development institution established under the aegis of Symbiosis

International (Deemed University). The centre was established in 2019 with the

vision of bridging the gap between formal education and industry requirements

by providing quality skill-based education and vocational training. SCSD is

committed to developing a skilled workforce by equipping youth with

industry-relevant knowledge, practical skills, and entrepreneurial abilities

that enhance employability and promote self-employment.

The institute primarily focuses on empowering

unemployed youth, women, school and college dropouts, and candidates belonging

to economically weaker and marginalized communities. Through quality training,

career guidance, and industry exposure, SCSD contributes significantly to the

Government of India's Skill India Mission.

The State Government plant to develop the Centre

into a skill development university, 100 acres of land for which has been

sanctioned.

Approval

and Recognition

SCSD is

recognized as a Training Centre under the National Skill Development

Corporation (NSDC) and conducts various government-sponsored and self-funded

skill development programmes. The institute follows the guidelines and quality

standards prescribed by the National Skill Development Corporation and the

respective Sector Skill Councils to ensure industry-relevant training and

certification. The centre works closely with government agencies, industries,

corporate organizations, and community partners to deliver demand-driven

training programmes. These collaborations provide learners with practical

exposure and improve their employability.

Infrastructure

SCSD provides

modern infrastructure designed to create an effective learning environment. The

institute has well-equipped smart classrooms, computer laboratories, practical

training laboratories, and experiential learning facilities that support both

theoretical and hands-on learning.

Government Skill Development Programmes

SCSD actively participates in several Government of

India and Government of Maharashtra skill development initiatives aimed at

improving employability and creating sustainable livelihoods.

Pramod

Mahajan Kaushalya Udyojakta Vikas Abhiyan

Under the

Pramod Mahajan Kaushalya Udyojakta Vikas Abhiyan (PMKUVA) project, SCSD

successfully trained 180 candidates in various job-oriented skill courses. The

programme focused on developing technical competencies, communication skills,

and workplace readiness to improve employment opportunities.

The training

was conducted according to the prescribed guidelines with a strong emphasis on

practical learning and industry requirements. Recognition of Prior Learning

(RPL) SCSD also implemented the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme,

under which 350 candidates were assessed and certified. The RPL initiative

recognizes the existing skills and experience of workers and provides formal

certification, thereby enhancing their employability and career prospects.

Self-Funded Skill Development Programmes

In addition

to government-sponsored initiatives, SCSD conducts several self-funded

certificate and vocational programmes. Through these programmes, the institute

has successfully trained 250 students in various skill development courses.

These programmes are designed to meet local industry requirements while

providing affordable and accessible skill training.

SCSD offers a wide range of vocational and certificate

courses that address current industry demands. The training programmes combine

classroom instruction with practical experience to ensure job readiness.

Future Plan

SCSD aims to

strengthen its position as a leading skill development institution in Central

India by expanding its training capacity and introducing new technology-driven

programmes. The institute plans to:

advanced courses in emerging technologies.

Expand government-sponsored and industry-supported

skill development projects.

Strengthen partnerships with industries for

internships, apprenticeships, and placements.

Establish Centres of Excellence in high-demand

sectors.

Promote

digital learning and blended training methods.

Strengthen entrepreneurship development programmes

for self-employment. Increase outreach among rural and marginalized

communities.

Enhance placement support and career guidance

services.

Contribute to the Skill India Mission by producing a

skilled, employable, and entrepreneurial workforce.

Since its establishment in 2019, Symbiosis Centre

for Skill Development (SCSD), Nagpur has made significant contributions to

skill development through quality vocational education, government-sponsored

initiatives, and self-funded training programmes. The institute has successfully

trained 180 candidates under the Pramod Mahajan Kaushalya Udyojakta Vikas

Abhiyan (PMKUVA), 350 candidates under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

programme, and 250 candidates through self-funded skill development programmes.

With its modern infrastructure, qualified trainers, industry collaborations,

and strong focus on marginalized communities, SCSD continues to promote

employability, entrepreneurship, and self-employment. The institute remains

committed to supporting the vision of Skill India by developing competent,

confident, and self-reliant youth who contribute to sustainable economic and

social development.

The Centre was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister

Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in the presence of

Maharashtra’s revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

Fadnavis announced that a 100 acre land will be made

for the Centre to be development as a university will be available within a

month.
