
New Delhi, 03 July (H.S.): The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday described the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit as highly successful, saying the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further strengthen their Special Strategic and Global Partnership and advance shared growth and prosperity.
Prime Minister Takaichi concluded her official visit to India on Friday after holding wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on bilateral, regional and global issues. The two leaders reviewed the progress of the India-Japan partnership and agreed to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including defence, economic security, advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, clean energy, resilient supply chains and the Indo-Pacific.
In a post on X, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the visit had further advanced the bilateral partnership.
A memorable visit concludes, advancing India-Japan partnership towards shared horizons. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan departs from India following the highly successful 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, Jaiswal said, adding that Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh saw the Japanese Prime Minister off at her departure.
The MEA said the India-Japan partnership continues to serve as a key pillar for promoting peace, prosperity and stability across the Indo-Pacific and beyond. It noted that the summit reaffirmed the shared resolve of both governments to expand collaboration across strategic, economic and technological domains.
The ministry also highlighted that 2027 will mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. Both sides agreed to commemorate the milestone through a series of special events and initiatives aimed at strengthening people-to-people exchanges, cultural ties and institutional cooperation.
The summit concluded with both countries reaffirming their commitment to a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific while expanding cooperation in emerging technologies, digital innovation, infrastructure development, trade and investment, and regional security.
