Kamrup (Assam), 03 July (HS): Panic gripped the Palashbari area in Kamrup (Rural) district on Friday after the body of an elderly man was recovered from behind a house at Guimara locality.

According to police, local residents spotted the body early in the morning and immediately informed the authorities. A police team rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

The deceased has been identified as 73-year-old Jutu Bhagawati, who had been missing since Tuesday. Police said an FIR had already been registered regarding his disappearance.

An investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death, police added.----------
