Glasgow, 28 July (H.S.): A major error on the official results website of the Commonwealth Games 2026 created confusion regarding Indian athlete Tejaswin Shankar during the men’s high jump final on Monday. The website showed him as DNS (Did Not Start), even though live broadcasts showed him present at the Scotstoun Stadium for the event.

Initially, the error led to the impression that only two Indian athletes were participating in the final. However, shortly afterwards, Tejaswin Shankar was seen on the field along with his compatriots Sarvesh Kushare and J. Adarsh Ram, confirming that the DNS status displayed on the website was a technical mistake.

Tejaswin began his campaign by attempting the opening height of 2.05 metres but failed to clear the bar in his first attempt. After the jump, he appeared uncomfortable while landing on the mat and seemed to be struggling with an injury. Following this, he decided to withdraw from the competition, bringing his high jump final to an early end.

No official update has been provided yet regarding the severity of his injury. It also remains unclear whether the injury will affect his participation in the decathlon event at the Commonwealth Games.

Tejaswin Shankar entered the competition as the defending bronze medallist. He created history at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games by winning the bronze medal in the men’s high jump event, becoming the first Indian athlete to achieve the feat.

The year 2026 has been highly successful for Tejaswin so far. In February, he won the gold medal in the heptathlon event at the Asian Indoor Championships with an Indian record score of 5,993 points. Later, in May, he became the first Indian athlete to cross the 8,000-point mark in the decathlon at the Federation Cup, setting a national record with 8,057 points.
