Prayagraj, 27 July (HS): The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC)
of North Central Railway is currently conducting the Physical Efficiency Test
(PET) for various Group 'D' posts—including Assistant, Pointsman, and Track
Maintainer-IV—at the DSA Ground, NCR, Prayagraj. This ongoing drive follows the
initial recruitment notification issued on January 22, 2025, which advertised a
total of 2,020 vacancies across the region. Candidates were shortlisted after
undergoing a Computer Based Test (CBT) held between January 27, 2025, and
December 10, 2025, with results declared on July 1, 2026.
A total of 3,736 candidates—comprising 3,511 males and 225
females—have been called for the physical examination scheduled from July 25
through July 28, 2026. In accordance with official guidelines, 751 candidates
have been exempted from the PET, including 69 Persons with Benchmark
Disabilities (PwBD), 282 Ex-Servicemen, and 400 Course Completed Act
Apprentices (CCAA).
To qualify, male candidates must complete a 1,000-meter run
in 4 minutes and 15 seconds, and carry a 35 kg weight over a distance of 100
meters in 2 minutes in a single attempt. Female candidates are required to
complete the 1,000-meter run in 5 minutes and 40 seconds, and carry a 20 kg
weight over 100 meters in 2 minutes in a single attempt.
To ensure structured operations, candidates are arriving in
three daily batches at 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, and 8:00 AM. Ground verification
begins with initial document checks, followed by biometric identification and
AADHAAR authentication and final RFID registration. Candidates are fully
briefed on time limits, running distances, and weight-carrying rules prior to
taking the field.
The physical test has seen steady progress over the past
three days. On July 25, 2026, 640 candidates attended out of 1,000 scheduled,
resulting in 251 successful candidates and 229 unsuccessful candidates.
Approximately 160 candidates whose attempts were disrupted by heavy rainfall
have been granted a second opportunity on a reserved date. On July 26, 2026, out
of 1,250 invited candidates, 928 were present, with 622 passing and 306
declared unsuccessful. The assessment process conducted smoothly today, July
27, 2026, out of 1,261 scheduled candidates, 872 were present. 500 candidates
qualified the physical efficiency tests today thus total 1373 candidates
qualified the PET till date.
North Central Railway has prioritized candidate health and
fair administration throughout the event. Dedicated ambulances and prompt
medical facilities remain stationed at the venue for any health emergencies.
The recruitment process is being closely monitored on-site by teams from RRC,
Prayagraj Division staff, RPF personnel, Scout members, and the St. John
Ambulance Brigade. The Chairman of the RRC and the Senior Divisional Personnel
Officer are present on the ground to oversee transparent, fair, and efficient
execution.
