New Delhi, 27 July (H.S.): The proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned until 11 am on Tuesday amid strong protests and disruptions by opposition members on the eighth day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Monday.

The government introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha on Monday. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh presented the bill in the House at 11 am. However, the discussion on the proposed legislation could not take place due to heavy uproar by opposition parties, who remained firm on their demand for a debate on the alleged police action against students.

Earlier, amid continuous sloganeering and disruption, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned three times — first until noon, then until 2 pm, and later until 5 pm. Subsequently, the House was adjourned for the day and will now reconvene at 11 am on Tuesday as the opposition protests prevented further proceedings.

The Lok Sabha witnessed repeated disruptions throughout the day. Every time the House resumed proceedings, Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) MPs entered the Well of the House carrying banners and posters and raised slogans.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urged both the government and opposition members to reach a consensus before the discussion on the bill. Following this, Birla held meetings with Congress MP K.C. Venugopal and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju questioned the opposition’s decision to disrupt proceedings during the introduction of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.

“Why the opposition is raising slogans during a discussion on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 is beyond my understanding,” Rijiju said, adding that the entire country’s youth are watching the developments related to this important legislation.
