- Chief Minister Dr. Yadav listened to the Mann Ki Baat program with locals in Orchha

Bhopal, 26 July (H.S.). Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the state government's efforts during the 'Mann Ki Baat' program on Sunday while discussing the 'Catch the Rain' campaign and highlighting the water conservation work done in Sidhi and Narsinghpur districts of Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi noted that approximately 1,500 ponds have been constructed in Sidhi district and 'Amrit Sarovars' (rejuvenated water bodies) have been developed in Narsinghpur. He emphasized the need to transform the campaign to conserve every drop of rainwater into a mass movement.

Prime Minister Modi called upon citizens to take responsibility for the ponds, wells, or stepwells in their vicinity and join the campaign to save every drop of water. He stated that every drop saved today serves as the greatest asset for the future of coming generations. The state's Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, listened to Prime Minister Modi's Mann Ki Baat program at Kanchana Ghat in Orchha, a town of tourism and religious significance in Niwari district. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel; Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Horticulture and Food Processing (and Minister-in-charge of Niwari district) Narayan Singh Kushwaha; along with public representatives and local residents, were present on the occasion.

Conserve rainwater right where it falls

Prime Minister Modi stated that the message of 'Catch the Rain' is very straightforward: conserve water right where the rain falls. For this reason, a special nationwide campaign has been underway since July 4, giving fresh momentum to rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharging, the rejuvenation of old water sources, and tree plantation. Whether in villages or cities and involving panchayats or social organizations, people everywhere have participated enthusiastically. In some places, silt is being removed from old ponds, while in others, wells and stepwells are being revived. Disused borewells are now becoming a means for groundwater recharge.

In the 'Mann Ki Baat' program, Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the encouraging results of initiatives undertaken in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Kevat and Niwari MLA Anil Jain were also present on the occasion.
