Kolkata, 25 July (H.S.) : A fresh First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee at Bishnupur Police Station in South 24 Parganas over alleged irregularities linked to the Sevashray health camp. The complaint was lodged by the representative of a resort in Pailan, alleging financial losses, extortion and intimidation during the organisation of the camp.

According to the complaint, the resort was forced to remain exclusively reserved for nearly 40 days to accommodate doctors, medical staff and other personnel associated with the Sevashray camp. The complainant alleged that the resort management had to bear all expenses related to accommodation, food and logistics without receiving payment, resulting in substantial financial losses during the peak tourist season.

Apart from Abhishek Banerjee, his former aide Sumit Roy and TMC MLA Dilip Mondal have also been named in the complaint. Based on the allegations, police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.

The resort management alleged that around 110 to 120 doctors and support staff stayed at the property during the camp and that all rooms remained blocked for nearly 40 days. It claimed the arrangement caused losses of nearly ₹20–25 lakh during the 2025 and 2026 editions of the Sevashray programme.

The complainant, Samiran Roy, further alleged that Sumit Roy and Dilip Mondal pressured the resort owner to provide the facilities and also demanded additional money for running the local camp. According to the complaint, threats of vandalism and harm to personal safety were issued if the demands were not met.

Roy stated that he had remained silent earlier because the accused were highly influential. He claimed he approached the police only after the change of government in the state. Based on his complaint, police have registered a case against the accused under multiple sections related to extortion and anti-corruption laws. The investigation is underway.

The latest FIR comes amid a series of cases filed against Abhishek Banerjee following the change of government in West Bengal. The Diamond Harbour MP has alleged that the multiple FIRs against him are politically motivated. He has also approached the Calcutta High Court seeking protection in the cases. However, the court has declined to grant him blanket protection from all pending and future criminal proceedings.
