New Delhi, 16 July (H.S.):
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh College has played a significant role in nation-building for the past 60 years by imparting quality education while upholding the values of discipline and a Nation First ethos. She made the remarks while addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the college. Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh was also present at the event.
Congratulating the entire college fraternity on the institution's milestone, the Chief Minister extended her heartfelt greetings to the principal, faculty members, staff, students, and alumni for the college's remarkable journey.
She said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's education system is setting new benchmarks in innovation, skill development, research, and nation-building. Institutions such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, she added, are infusing fresh momentum into this national mission.
Established in 1967 as a constituent college of the University of Delhi, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is a co-educational institution named after the legendary freedom fighter Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.
The college's vision is embodied in its motto, Rashtra Devo Bhava (The Nation is Supreme), which reflects the ideals of Bhagat Singh, who believed that service to the nation stands above all else.
