Kathmandu, June 5 (H.S.): Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Shishir Khanal, arrived in New Delhi on Friday on an official visit to India. He was received by Manu Mahawar, Additional Secretary heading the Nepal-Bhutan Affairs (North Desk) division in India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

Speaking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport before departing for New Delhi, Minister Khanal said that the purpose of his visit is to engage in meaningful discussions on matters of mutual interest between the two countries and on Nepal’s key priorities.

During his visit, Foreign Minister Khanal will hold a formal bilateral meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar. According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will feature detailed discussions on a range of issues of mutual interest to Nepal and India.

The agenda is expected to focus particularly on bilateral trade, investment, connectivity and infrastructure linkages, energy cooperation, and further strengthening and expanding people-to-people ties between the two neighbouring nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal expressed confidence that the visit, which forms part of the regular exchange of high-level engagements between the two countries, will play a significant role in further deepening and reinforcing the diplomatic, historical, and multifaceted relationship between Nepal and India.

According to the scheduled programme, Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal will return to Nepal on June 7.
