President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday attended the first convocation ceremony of the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh in Visakhapatnam, where she encouraged graduating students to continuously upgrade their skills and embrace emerging opportunities in an increasingly dynamic world.
Addressing the gathering, the President said she was pleased to learn that the university had evolved into a centre of excellence and quality education within just seven years of its establishment. She noted that the institution offers a flexible academic curriculum, allowing students to pursue learning beyond conventional disciplinary boundaries.
Murmu described the convocation ceremony as a significant milestone in the lives of students, marking the successful completion of an important phase of their academic journey. While congratulating the graduates, she said the occasion should also motivate them to reflect seriously on their future responsibilities and aspirations.
She emphasised that in today's rapidly changing global environment, young people must continue developing new skills and remain open to emerging fields of knowledge in order to stay relevant and competitive. She encouraged students to adopt lifelong learning and prepare themselves for future challenges through continuous skill enhancement.
The President said higher educational institutions have an important role in nurturing not only academic excellence but also innovation, creativity, and social responsibility. She urged the graduating students to use their education for the welfare of society and contribute meaningfully to the nation's development.
The Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh was established to expand access to quality higher education, particularly for tribal communities, while promoting research, innovation, and inclusive development. The university has introduced multidisciplinary academic programmes designed to equip students with knowledge and practical skills suited to changing national and global requirements.
