Imphal, 03 June (HS): Security forces achieved a major success in separate counter-insurgency operations across Manipur, recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition and arresting two active cadres linked to banned insurgent outfits.

During a search operation conducted on June 2, security personnel recovered a substantial quantity of weapons and explosives from the foothills of the Pechi Chinglak area under Yaripok Police Station in Thoubal district. The seized items included an AK rifle, a double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, four hand grenades, detonators, magazines, live ammunition, cartridges and a Baofeng radio handset with charger.

In a separate operation on the same day, security forces apprehended an active cadre of the KCP (PWG), identified as Komol Muktar Abas alias Karati (25), from his residence at Yairipok Tulihal Toupokpi under Andro Police Station in Imphal East district.

Meanwhile, another active insurgent belonging to PREPAK (PRO), Yanglem Anaoba Singh alias Yamba (23), was arrested from the eastern side of Hiyangthang Bridge under Wangoi Police Station in Imphal West district. The accused is a resident of Singjamei Chingamakha Yanglem Leirak in Imphal West.

Officials stated that the operations were carried out as part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities and maintain law and order in the state. Further investigation is underway.-----------
