Bongaigaon (Assam), June 27 (HS): A tragic road accident on the four-lane National Highway near Kareya Pahar in Jogighopa of Assam's Bongaigaon district claimed the life of an e-rickshaw driver and left two others seriously injured on Saturday.

According to Jogighopa Police, the accident occurred when a speeding four-wheeler collided with an e-rickshaw that was attempting to take a U-turn on the highway. The impact of the collision proved fatal for the e-rickshaw driver.

The deceased has been identified as Umar Ali, a resident of Kabaitari First Block village. The injured, Atowar Rahman and Ambiya Khatun, sustained serious injuries and were immediately shifted to Chalanthapara Community Health Centre for medical treatment.

Police seized the accident-involved four-wheeler (AS-01GS-7826) and the e-rickshaw (AS-19ER-2916). Preliminary findings indicate that the four-wheeler was travelling from Bongaigaon towards Goalpara when the collision occurred. Jogighopa Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident.-----------
