Thrissur, 26 June (H.S.):

A businessman from Tamil Nadu has donated a gold crown weighing approximately 37 sovereigns to Lord Guruvayurappan at the famed Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayur, marking yet another significant offering by a devotee to one of Kerala’s most revered shrines.

The gold crown, studded with ornamental stones, was presented by Tiruppur-based industrialist Rajan P. Nair during a special ceremony held at the temple on Friday morning. The offering was formally received on behalf of the Guruvayur Devaswom in the presence of temple officials, members of the Devaswom Managing Committee, the donor’s family and devotees.

Among those present were Devaswom Managing Committee member C. Manoj, Deputy Administrator M. Radha and Assistant Manager M. Haridas. Following the ceremonial submission at the temple’s sacred Sopanam steps, the newly donated crown was adorned on the idol of Lord Guruvayurappan during the noon pooja, allowing thousands of devotees to witness the special decoration.

As part of temple tradition, Rajan P. Nair and his family were honoured with Guruvayurappan’s prasadam, which included kalabham, the sacred Thirumudi garland, fruits and sugar, in recognition of their offering.

The latest donation comes just days after another prominent devotee presented a gold crown to the temple. On June 18, coinciding with the auspicious last Thursday of the Malayalam month of Mithunam, Gopu Nandilath, owner of the Nandilath Group, donated a gold crown weighing around 25 sovereigns to Lord Guruvayurappan.

The back-to-back offerings underscore the deep devotion of worshippers to the Guruvayur Temple, one of South India’s most important pilgrimage centres, where devotees regularly present gold, ornaments and other valuables as expressions of faith and gratitude.
