Guwahati, June 24 (HS): Two suspected Bangladeshi nationals were detained in Guwahati's Paltan Bazar area after local residents allegedly found them staying at a lodge without valid travel documents, police sources said on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Bobby Lodge, where the two individuals were staying. According to police sources, local residents became suspicious of their activities and alerted the authorities after detaining them.
Preliminary inquiries reportedly revealed that the duo had entered India without valid travel documents. During initial questioning, the detained persons allegedly told investigators that they had entered the country with the assistance of an agent identified as Hriday Deka.
Police have taken both individuals into custody and launched a detailed investigation into the matter. Authorities are also examining the role of the alleged facilitator and probing whether a larger network involved in illegal cross-border movement may be linked to the case.
Further investigation is underway.
