Bhubaneswar, 24 June (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has welcomed the Government of India's measures to strengthen the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) framework, stating that the reforms will enhance transparency, accountability, and responsible utilization of foreign contributions in the country.

In a social media post, the Chief Minister said that ensuring foreign funds are utilized strictly for their declared purposes and remain subject to the highest standards of transparency and accountability is the need of the hour. He noted that the Centre has significantly strengthened the FCRA regime through stricter disclosure requirements, mandatory identification of ultimate donors, field verification of fund utilization, enhanced monitoring mechanisms, and an explicit prohibition on proselytization activities.

Majhi said the reforms send a clear message that India welcomes genuine developmental, educational, and welfare initiatives supported by foreign contributions. However, he emphasized that foreign funding would not be allowed to serve as a vehicle for hidden agendas, ideological influence, or activities that could undermine national interests.

According to the Chief Minister, the amendments reinforce transparency, accountability, and responsible use of foreign funds while safeguarding India's sovereignty, social harmony, and cultural ethos.

Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Majhi stated that the Centre continues to take decisive steps to protect national unity, strengthen institutional integrity, and ensure that every foreign contribution contributes to the larger objectives of nation-building and public welfare.
