New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.):

Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Wednesday inspected ongoing desilting work in Moti Nagar as part of the government's efforts to strengthen drainage infrastructure ahead of the monsoon season. BJP MLA Harish Khurana and senior departmental officials accompanied him during the inspection.

Addressing journalists during the visit, Parvesh Sahib Singh said that PWD officials, senior engineers, and chief engineers are actively monitoring desilting operations across Delhi's stormwater drains to ensure effective rainwater management before the onset of the monsoon.

He noted that although the department has maintenance contracts in place for two years, the actual condition of work on the ground can only be assessed through physical inspections. The minister said that during his visits to Kirti Nagar and Moti Nagar, officials were instructed to ensure that all desilting and maintenance activities are completed on schedule and in accordance with the highest quality standards.

Singh emphasized that regular field inspections are essential for identifying shortcomings and ensuring accountability in infrastructure maintenance projects. He added that the government is committed to minimizing waterlogging and improving drainage systems across the city before heavy rains begin.

In a post on social media platform X, Harish Khurana said that he accompanied the minister during an inspection of Satguru Ram Das Marg in Kirti Nagar, which falls within the Moti Nagar Assembly constituency.

According to Khurana, the visit included a detailed review of waterlogging concerns, the condition of roads, drainage arrangements, and other public infrastructure issues in the area. He said that the concerned officials were directed to take necessary measures to provide permanent and time-bound solutions to the identified problems.

The MLA stated that ensuring public convenience, smooth traffic movement, and improved civic infrastructure remains a top priority. He added that continuous efforts are being made to address public grievances and promote the overall development of the Moti Nagar Assembly constituency.
