New Delhi, June 23 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met National Security Advisors and senior security officials of BRICS countries and underscored the need for deeper cooperation among member nations to address evolving global security challenges.

In a post on X after the meeting, Modi said BRICS has an important role to play in strengthening cooperation on issues ranging from terrorism and cyber security to emerging technologies amid a rapidly changing global landscape.

BRICS has a vital role in deepening security cooperation and addressing shared challenges, from terrorism and cyber security to emerging technologies, the Prime Minister said.

Modi also outlined India's priorities during its forthcoming BRICS Chairmanship, stating that New Delhi would work to advance practical cooperation among member countries, support the aspirations of the Global South and contribute towards a safer, more secure and inclusive world.

The meeting comes at a time when BRICS nations are seeking greater coordination on security, economic and geopolitical issues amid evolving global challenges.
