Guwahati, 20 June (HS): Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal paid heartfelt tributes to Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha on the occasion of Rabha Divas, remembering the legendary artist’s immense contribution to Assam’s cultural and social life.

In a message released on Saturday, Sonowal said that the immortal creations and cultural consciousness fostered by Rabha have continued to inspire and guide the Assamese people across generations. He noted that the legacy of the revered cultural icon remains a shining force in the national life of Assam.

Describing Rabha as a pioneering artist and torchbearer of art and culture, Sonowal said the multifaceted personality made unparalleled contributions to Assamese literature, music, culture and society. He added that Rabha illuminated Assam’s rich cultural heritage through his artistic pursuits and creative vision.

The Union Minister further stated that Rabha’s ideas, cultural philosophy and creative works have consistently inspired younger generations, while his efforts helped instill a renewed sense of self-respect and cultural awareness among the Assamese people.
