
Imphal, 20 June (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police have intensified operations against insurgent groups across the state over the last 24 hours, leading to the arrest of several active cadres linked to different banned outfits and the rescue of a juvenile allegedly being recruited into militant activities.
The recent crackdown comes amid ongoing investigations into major incidents, including the Ukhrul Punjab National Bank robbery case, the 5th IRB arms loot case, the murder of a Hmar woman in Jiribam, the abduction and killing of four Kuki individuals, the attack on CRPF personnel at Narainsena and the ambush on the convoy of the Chief Minister.
On June 19, security forces apprehended a juvenile active cadre of the UKNA from the Songpi village area under Churachandpur Police Station.
On the same day, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Surensangbam Bungcha alias Winner (46), from Maibam Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district.
Earlier, security forces arrested Wangkhem Premjit Singh alias Kamcha alias Ibomcha (46), a self-styled Captain and active extortionist of KCP (PWG), from his residence at Luker Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district.
In another operation conducted at the ISBT Complex area, security personnel arrested RK Solomon Singh alias Amon (51), an active cadre of RPF/PLA, along with his associate Thangmeishang Kasar (32). A juvenile whom the duo was allegedly attempting to recruit into the outfit was rescued during the operation.
Security forces also arrested Sarangthem Jayenta Meetei alias Bicky alias Wanglen (48), a self-styled Lieutenant Colonel and Director In-Charge of Intelligence of RPF/PLA, from Kongba Bazar in Imphal East district.
During the operations, security personnel seized several incriminating items, including a cash amount of ₹2,000 and a white Bolero Camper vehicle. Further investigation into the cases is underway.----------
