K Annamalai Meets Amit Shah Amid Speculation Over BJP Exit

NEW DELHI, June 2 (H.S.): Amid speculation about his possible exit from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the formation of a new political outfit, former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Prior to his meeting with Shah, Annamalai also held discussions with BJP National President Nitin Navin and National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh. During these interactions, the party’s top leadership is understood to have urged him to reconsider his future political plans.

According to sources, Annamalai briefed Amit Shah on the current political developments in Tamil Nadu and outlined the reasons behind his dissatisfaction. The BJP leadership reportedly advised him to exercise patience and wait for further developments.

Speaking to the media after meeting the Home Minister, Annamalai said, “I have conveyed whatever I wanted to say. Please wait; we will speak again in the next two days.”

Annamalai is expected to remain in New Delhi on Wednesday as well.

Notably, the former IPS officer has long been regarded as one of the BJP’s most prominent faces in Tamil Nadu. Ahead of the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, he was replaced as the state BJP president, with Nainar Nagendran being entrusted with the responsibility.

Subsequently, Annamalai was also reportedly unhappy with the BJP’s decision to forge an alliance with the AIADMK. He had publicly expressed reservations regarding the implementation of the three-language policy for Class IX students under the CBSE framework.

For now, Annamalai is awaiting the party leadership’s decision regarding his future role and political responsibilities.
