Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, reaffirming India's consistent position that peace, dialogue and diplomacy remain the only sustainable path to resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

During the bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Modi reiterated that India has always stood on the side of peace and humanity. He emphasized that New Delhi supports all sincere efforts aimed at ending the conflict through dialogue and diplomatic engagement while expressing hope for an early restoration of peace and stability in the region.

The two leaders reviewed the current state of India-Ukraine relations and discussed ways to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, technology, economic development and other sectors while reaffirming their commitment to maintaining regular high-level engagement.

President Volodymyr Zelensky described the meeting as productive and said both leaders agreed that India and Ukraine possess significant potential to deepen bilateral cooperation. He noted that several joint initiatives are already underway and stressed the need to accelerate their implementation while identifying new areas for collaboration.

Zelensky said the discussions also focused on industrial and economic projects that could be developed jointly, adding that officials from both countries would continue consultations to advance these initiatives. He expressed confidence that stronger cooperation would benefit both nations and contribute to broader economic ties.

The meeting took place amid continued international diplomatic efforts to address the conflict in Ukraine, with the G7 Summit serving as a platform for discussions on global security, economic stability and international cooperation.
