New Delhi/Evian (France), June 16 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Sharing details of the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said the past year had been significant for India-UK relations, particularly following the conclusion of the bilateral trade agreement.

“Had a wonderful meeting with PM Keir Starmer in Evian. The last year has been outstanding as far as India-UK relations are concerned. The trade deal has opened many avenues of economic cooperation. Today’s talks focused on how to add even more momentum to India-UK ties,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, where Prime Minister Modi is participating as the leader of an invited partner country. The two leaders reviewed ongoing cooperation and exchanged views on strengthening economic and strategic engagement.

India and the United Kingdom have witnessed growing cooperation in trade, investment, technology, education and innovation in recent years. The recently concluded trade agreement is expected to further expand economic opportunities and deepen bilateral ties.
