India Midfielder Jyoti Completes 100 International Appearances


Auckland, June 16 (HS): Indian women's hockey midfielder Jyoti reached a major career milestone on Tuesday, completing 100 international appearances during India's FIH Women's Hockey Nations Cup match against Japan in New Zealand.

Hockey India congratulated the midfielder on the achievement and lauded her contribution to the national team.

Hailing from Haryana, Jyoti made her international debut in 2019 during a bilateral Test series against Malaysia. Through consistent performances, discipline and composure in midfield, she has established herself as an important member of the Indian squad.

During her international career, Jyoti has represented India in several major tournaments. She was part of the Indian team that won the bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and also played a key role in India's Women's Asian Champions Trophy triumph. She has represented the country in the FIH Pro League, Asia Cup and several other international competitions.

Expressing her happiness over the milestone, Jyoti said representing India has always been the greatest honour of her life.

Completing 100 international matches is a proud moment for me and something I will always cherish. I am grateful to my family, coaches, teammates and everyone who has supported me throughout this journey, she said.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey congratulated Jyoti and said reaching 100 international appearances reflects her dedication, consistency and hard work.

Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh said the achievement is a testament to Jyoti's perseverance and commitment and would inspire young players aspiring to represent India.
