Bhubaneswar, 16 June (H.S.): In a proud moment for Odisha, Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Mahasingi in Kandhamal district has qualified for the Zonal-Level Youth Parliament Competition (Zone III), scheduled to be held at EMRS Ozili in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

The school secured its place in the prestigious competition after emerging as the Regional-Level Champion among four participating EMRS institutions from Odisha. The event is being organized by the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) under the banner of the 1st National Youth Parliament Competition for Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

The competition is being conducted in a three-tier format comprising Regional, Zonal and National levels, with 36 selected EMRSs from across the country participating in the initiative. The programme seeks to promote democratic values, constitutional awareness, leadership skills and a deeper understanding of parliamentary functioning among tribal students.

A contingent of 58 students accompanied by six escort teachers from EMRS Mahasingi will represent Odisha at the zonal-level event. Participation in the Youth Parliament programme provides students with a unique opportunity to strengthen their communication skills, critical thinking abilities, leadership qualities and understanding of India’s democratic institutions and traditions.

The achievement has sparked enthusiasm and pride among the school community. Teachers, students and parents have hailed the accomplishment as a testament to the school's commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.
