Japanese Prime Minister's Visit to India May Take Place on July 1 - Reports

TOKYO, June 11 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's visit to India may take place on July 1, the Kyodo news agency reported.

The two governments are continuing to negotiate the timing and location of a possible meeting. Guwahati, the capital of Assam state, was mentioned as a possible option. It was scheduled to be the venue for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in December 2019. However, the visit was postponed due to the deteriorating security situation.

If the meeting between Takaichi and Modi takes place, the two sides are expected to discuss stable energy supplies amid the Middle East crisis, the report said on Tuesday.

In addition, the leaders can exchange views on expanding private investment from Japan, cooperation in advanced technologies, including semiconductors and artificial intelligence, and personnel exchanges, the report added.
