31 May (HS): Air Marshal B Manikantan, PVSM, AVSM, VM, Air Officer

Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command superannuated from Indian Air Force on

Sunday, after rendering four decades of distinguished and dedicated service to

the nation.

Air

Marshal B Manikantan was commissioned in the IAF on 07 June 1986. He was a

Helicopter Combat Leader with extensive flying experience of around 5555 hours

on various rotary and fixed wing aircraft in the inventory of the IAF. During

his illustrious career, the Air Marshal held numerous important command and

staff appointments. In recognition of his exceptional and distinguished service

to the nation, the Air Marshal was awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati

Vishisht Seva Medal and Vayu Sena Medal.

As

the AOC-in-C of Central Air Command, the Air Mshl’s tenure was defined by a

strategic vision, inspiring leadership and professional excellence. His

leadership was pivotal in bolstering the operational readiness of Central Air

Command, ensuring the seamless and effective execution of all key operational

mandates, including a stellar role played by CAC’s combat assets during Op

Sindoor. His tenure was marked by a steadfast commitment to maintaining the

highest standards of professionalism and operational efficiency. From

spearheading complex land acquisition processes to fostering civil-military

fusion, his impact has been far-reaching. Central Air Command salutes his

exemplary service and extends heartfelt appreciation for his unwavering

commitment to the nation.

The

superannuation events were marked by a comprehensive Commanders' Conclave to

review the Op preparedness of stations and units under Central Air Command,

emphasising a culture of vigilance and readiness. Beyond operational

achievements, he demonstrated his commitment to the environment and the force's

morale through a tree plantation drive. He also interacted with Air Warriors

and appreciated them for their dedication and professionalism, while motivating

them to continue upholding the highest standards and traditions of the IAF. On

the occasion, the Air Mshl received a ceremonial Guard of Honour and laid a

wreath at the Command War memorial to pay homage to fallen air warriors.
