Chandigarh, 30 May (H.S.): The Punjab Cabinet on Saturday approved the reconstitution of a Cabinet Sub-Committee to examine issues related to pending arrears of revised pay, pensions, leave encashment and Dearness Allowance (DA) of government employees and pensioners.

The Cabinet granted ex-post facto approval for the reconstituted panel, which will comprise Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur. The committee has been tasked with reviewing various pending financial liabilities and making recommendations regarding their payment.

According to an official statement, the committee will examine arrears arising from revised pay scales and pension benefits for the period between January 1, 2016, and June 30, 2021. It will also assess the pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) dues covering the period from July 1, 2021, to March 31, 2024.

The committee has additionally been assigned the responsibility of studying issues related to Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for different categories of serving employees and retired personnel.
