29 May (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid a heartfelt tribute to former
Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his death anniversary on Friday. He
laid a wreath at his statue in the Vidhan Bhavan. In his address, the Chief
Minister described former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh
as a great son of Mother India and a messiah of farmers.
The
Chief Minister said that Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on December 23, 1902,
in Uttar Pradesh. He was involved in the country's independence movement. He is
credited with numerous reforms in the fields of agriculture and revenue. He
clearly believed that the path to national development lies through villages,
farms, and barns.
The
Chief Minister said that farmers should be part of the government's development
agenda and priority. Government schemes should be formulated with farmers in
mind. Chaudhary Charan Singh was also awarded the Bharat Ratna for his work in
the national interest. Chief Minister Yogi said that the Uttar Pradesh
government is running numerous programs related to the welfare of farmers to
keep the memory of Chaudhary Charan Singh alive. The construction of the
Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow is also important among these.
Besides being a prominent politician, he also made significant contributions to
the country and society. He passed away on May 29, 1987.
During
this, Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Minister of State KP Malik, Mayor
Sushma Kharwal, Rajya Sabha MP Brajlal, MLA Neeraj Bora, Amresh Kumar,
Legislative Council members Lalji Prasad Nirmal, Ramchandra Pradhan, Umesh
Dwivedi etc. were present.
