Mumbai Tech Week inaugurated

Mumbai,

29 May (HS): “With financial strength, Technical skills. Powerful startups and

eagerness to accept new AI-based technological developments, Maharashtra is capable

of leading the world in technological revolution”, said Chief Minister Devendra

Fadnavis.

Fadnavis

expressed the confidence during the inauguration of the Mumbai Tech Week 2026,

at Mumbai’s BKC on Friday. An open interview of Fadnavis was held during the

inaugural function. Mumbai’s Mayor Ritu Tawde, Municipal Commissioner Ashvini

Bhide, Mumbai’s Commissioner Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, severl industrialists, Startup

Founder, investors and representatives of global technological firms were

present.

Maharashtra

has set a target of investing Rs 10,000 crore in AI (Artificial Intelligence),

generating 1.5 lakh jobs, establishing six Centre of Excellence and AI

Innovation Regions. ‘Compute as a Service’ facility is being created to promote

research and innovation, he said. Upcoming entrepreneurs and researchers will

be made available 2,000 GPU (Graphic Processing Unit), to remove the hurdles in

costly high capacity computing services.

Fadnavis

expressed confidence that industrialists and researchers would derive benefits

from the policies made by the government. The policies were drafted with the intense

discussion and vision of those craving for development and have energy to

achieve their goals.

Maharashtra

has proved leader in fetching investments from global companies. The state is

also leading in Startups. Fadnavis appealed to the participants to invest in

Maharashtra and derive benefits of the facilities created for them. The state

government is ready to accept constructive suggestions for investors and

industrialists with innovative ideas.

Fadnavis

also quoted examples of various government departments using AI technology,

including Farmers’ App by Agriculture Department for the benefit of the

farmers. The use of modern technology also has helped in improving transparency

in functioning, he added.

An

app has also been made operation to facilitate crime detection, investigation,

preparing charge sheets and reducing time taken for legal procedures. The

Ethical AI can detect fake posts and rumours easily. AI technology should not

be restricted to industries only and should be available to all. However, human values should be of prime

importance in using the modern technology to prevent its misuse, he said.
