Nagpur, 26 May
(HS): Union Minister Nitin Gadkari introduced Ethanol Stove as an alternative
to LPG cooking gas. Gadkari claimed that Ethanol Stove is cheaper and emits
very less carbon.
The announcement
came during a ‘Mitron Ke Beech’ programme, organised by the Rashtrabhasha
Pariwar in Nagpur. Gadkari emphasised reducing dependence on petroleum fuel by
using gree and indigenous fuel.
Ethanol is a
bio-fuel made from bio-wastes of sugarcane, maze, other food grains and
garbage. Presently it is mixed with petrol. By mixing only 7 per cent ethanol
in water, energy like a normal stive can be created. The technology has been
developed based on Indian technology.
Increasing cost
of LPG and import of oil can be reduced by using the indigenous fuel, which
will benefit the customers and prevent harm to the environment.
Although the
Ethanol Stove is not available in the market, it can prove a major alternative
to petroleum-based fuel in the near future, Gadkari added.
