New Delhi, 22 May (H.S.): Gujarat Titans registered a commanding 89-run victory over Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad during the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season. Following the match, the race for both the Orange Cap and Purple Cap has become even more intense. Gujarat Titans openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill continue to dominate the batting charts, while Kagiso Rabada has drawn level with Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the bowling standings.

Sai Sudharsan Reclaims the Orange Cap

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill initially claimed the Orange Cap after scoring a fluent 64 off 37 deliveries against Chennai. Before the match, Gill had accumulated 552 runs, while his opening partner Sai Sudharsan was slightly ahead with 554 runs.

However, Sudharsan responded in spectacular fashion, smashing 84 runs from 53 balls to regain the Orange Cap. He now leads the run-scoring charts with 638 runs, while Gill occupies second place with 616 runs.

In the Orange Cap standings, Rajasthan Royals batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi sits third with 579 runs. He is followed by Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder Mitchell Marsh with 563 runs and Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen with 555 runs.

Virat Kohli also remains firmly in contention. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru star batter currently occupies sixth place with 542 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kagiso Rabada Level in Purple Cap Race

In the bowling charts, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had been leading the Purple Cap standings for an extended period, but Kagiso Rabada drew level after claiming three wickets against Chennai.

Both bowlers now have 24 wickets each this season. However, Bhuvneshwar continues to hold the Purple Cap due to his superior economy rate of 7.70, compared to Rabada’s 9.18.

Mohammed Siraj also impressed against Chennai, picking up three wickets to take his tally to 17 wickets for the season, moving him to seventh place in the standings.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings pacer Anshul Kamboj dismissed Sai Sudharsan to take his season tally to 21 wickets, lifting him to third place in the Purple Cap rankings.

Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan also claimed three wickets in the match, taking his overall tally to 19 wickets and moving into fourth place.

Behind them are Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Jofra Archer and Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Kartik Tyagi, both of whom have claimed 18 wickets this season.
