New Delhi, May 19 (H.S.): Amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia, public sector oil and gas marketing companies have once again increased the prices of petrol and diesel across the country. Fuel prices were raised by nearly 90 paise per litre on Tuesday, marking the second hike within a week. The revised rates have come into immediate effect.

According to Indian Oil Corporation, following the latest revision, the price of petrol in New Delhi has increased by 87 paise per litre to ₹98.64 per litre. Diesel prices in the national capital have also gone up by 91 paise, reaching ₹91.58 per litre.

In Mumbai, petrol prices have risen by 91 paise to ₹107.59 per litre, while diesel has become costlier by 94 paise and is now retailing at ₹94.08 per litre.

Similarly, Kolkata recorded the steepest increase in petrol prices, with rates climbing by 96 paise to ₹109.70 per litre. Diesel prices in the city also rose by 94 paise to ₹96.07 per litre.

In Chennai, petrol prices increased by 82 paise to ₹104.49 per litre, while diesel prices surged by 86 paise to ₹96.11 per litre.

It is noteworthy that just three days before this latest revision, the government had increased petrol and diesel prices by up to ₹3 per litre nationwide on Friday.

The repeated increase in fuel prices comes at a time when global crude oil markets remain volatile due to escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, raising concerns over inflationary pressure and transportation costs in the domestic market.
