New Delhi, 18 May (H.S.):

India’s largest automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), has commenced commercial production at the second facility of its Kharkhoda manufacturing plant in the state of Haryana. The new unit has an annual production capacity of 250,000 vehicles, increasing Maruti Suzuki’s total production capacity at Kharkhoda to 500,000 units per year.

In a statement issued on Monday, Maruti Suzuki said that with the launch of the new facility, the company’s total annual manufacturing capacity across its plants located in Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda in Haryana, along with Hansalpur in Gujarat, has now risen to 2.65 million units annually.

The company further stated that once fully operational, the Kharkhoda facility will become one of the largest four-wheeler manufacturing sites of parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation, with a planned annual production capacity of one million vehicles.

In an earlier statement, the company had announced plans to add an additional production capacity of 500,000 units during the financial year 2026–27.

At present, the Kharkhoda facility is manufacturing the compact SUV Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the mid-size SUV Maruti Suzuki Vitara.
