New Delhi, 15 May (H.S.):

The Supreme Court has refused to grant bail to Kannada actor Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case. A bench headed by Justice J.B. Pardiwala directed the trial court to complete the examination of 60 key witnesses in the case within one year.

The Court said the trial court may conduct daily hearings for the examination of witnesses. The Supreme Court added that if there is no substantial progress in the trial, Kannada actor Darshan may again approach the Court for bail. Renukaswamy was an autorickshaw driver and a fan of Darshan.

Earlier, the Supreme Court, on 14 August 2025, had set aside the bail order granted to Darshan by the Karnataka High Court. The Court had observed that the High Court had not adequately considered the fact that Darshan is an influential person whose release on bail could influence the trial and investigation. The Karnataka High Court had granted regular bail to Darshan and other accused on 13 December 2024.
