New Delhi, 14 May (H.S.):
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli created history by smashing a brilliant century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Raipur on Wednesday. With his ninth IPL century, Kohli also became the record holder for reaching 14,000 runs in T20 cricket the fastest.
After being dismissed for ducks in the previous two matches and appearing under pressure, the 37-year-old Kohli adopted an aggressive approach from the outset against KKR. He remained unbeaten on 105 runs off 60 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes.
Thanks to Kohli's explosive innings, RCB successfully chased down the 192-run target and registered a splendid six-wicket victory in the match.
This marked Kohli's second IPL century against KKR, and his first IPL century since 2024.
With this century, Virat Kohli has also entered the top five in the race for the IPL 2026 Orange Cap. He now has 484 runs this season at an average of 53.77.
Kohli became the sixth batsman in the world to complete 14,000 runs in T20 cricket. Preceding him are Alex Hales, Kieron Pollard, David Warner, Jos Buttler, and Chris Gayle.
