The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting appointed renowned film director Ashutosh Gowariker as the Festival Director of the 57th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on Friday. This prestigious film festival is held in Goa.
Ashutosh Gowariker is a prominent figure in Indian cinema and has been associated with IFFI for several decades. He has been involved since 1984 and served as the Chairman of the International Jury in 2024.
Reacting to his appointment, Gowariker said in a statement to the media that serving as the Festival Director of this prestigious event is a matter of pride and joy for him. He stated that carrying forward the legacy of this festival, which began in 1952, is both an honor and a significant responsibility.
He also mentioned that he will work with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Government of Goa to ensure the event's success.
Notably, established in 1952, the International Film Festival of India is one of Asia's major film festivals, playing a crucial role in providing a platform for global cinema and promoting cultural exchange.
