(HS): On the expiry of the last day for withdrawal of nominations on Thursday, seven
candidates in the fray in the Rahuri by-polls. The constituency had fallen
vacant following death of its representative Shivajirao Kardile (BJP). His son
Akshay Kardile has been fielded by the BJP-led Mahayuti.
Efforts to elect
Akshay Kardile unopposed, failed and six other candidates are still in the
fray.
Although the
by-polls in Baramati and Rahuri are considered one-sided affair as all major
parties have withdrawn from the election, it will not be unopposed.
The voting will
be held on April 23 and the counting of votes will be held on May 4.
