New Delhi, 09 April (H.S.):
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has been slapped with a ₹12 lakh fine following his team's slow over-rate during Wednesday night's thrilling one-run victory over Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026's 14th match at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Per an IPL media advisory, GT breached Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct—governing minimum over-rate violations—for the first time this season, triggering the standard penalty on Gill. Mid-innings discussions during death overs contributed to the delay in a high-stakes chase.
GT posted 210/4 in 20 overs batting first. DC, needing 211, faltered at 209/8, falling two runs short despite requiring 13 off the final over. GT's bowlers, led by Prasidh Krishna's last-over heroics—a dot followed by a slow bouncer to David Miller—secured their maiden win.
The Titans face Lucknow Super Giants next on Sunday, April 12.
