Bhubaneswar, 07 April (H.S.): Odia film producer, industrialist, and social worker Rabi Swain passed away early this morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 75.

According to sources, Swain had been battling liver-related complications and was under medical care at the time of his demise. His passing marks the end of an era in the Odia film industry, where he made notable contributions through a series of widely appreciated films.

Over the years, he produced several popular Odia movies, including Jora Jara Mulaka Tara directed by Raju Mishra, Ki Heba Shua Poshile directed by Basant Sahu, Panjuri Bhitare Sari directed by Avatar Singh, and Udandi Sita. These films earned significant appreciation from audiences across Odisha.

Beyond cinema, Swain was also a respected educationist and philanthropist. He founded several institutions, including the Kshetramohan Memorial Trust, Om Shanti College of Science and Technology, Kshetramohan ITC, and Daitari ITC, contributing extensively to education and social development, particularly in the Pipili region.

His demise has cast a shadow of grief over the Pipili area, with many remembering him for his multifaceted contributions to society.
