Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage on Sunday to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary, lauding his lifelong dedication to welfare and social justice.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote: Shat-shat naman to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary! He devoted his life to welfare and social justice. His invaluable contribution to the nation will always be remembered.

Babu Jagjivan Ram (1908–1986), a prominent freedom fighter and politician from Bihar, served as India's Deputy Prime Minister from 1977 to 1979 and held key portfolios including Defence. Revered for championing Dalit rights and agricultural reforms, his legacy endures in India's push for inclusive development.
