New Delhi, 05 April (H.S.):
India's ports etched history by handling 915.17 million tonnes of cargo in FY 2025-26, surpassing the government's 904 million tonne target by a wide margin and posting a robust 7.06% surge from last year's 854.86 million tonnes.
This milestone underscores enhanced capacity, operational efficiency, superior logistics, and cutting-edge infrastructure, cementing India's maritime prowess amid global trade expansion.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways credits port-led development policies, multimodal connectivity, and digital reforms for the leap. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal hailed it as the fruit of
PM Narendra Modi's infrastructure push.
