
Bhubaneswar, 05 April (H.S.): In a vibrant celebration of Odia culture and heritage, the Odisha government’s Sports and Youth Services Department organized the “Heritage Marathon” today at the historic Ekamra Ground in the state capital. The event was held on the fifth day of the Odia Pride Week, with the marathon commencing at 5:30 AM from the iconic Mukteshwar Temple premises.
The marathon route spanned key landmarks of Bhubaneswar, including Rameshwar Temple, Vivekananda Marg, Utkal Kanika Galleria Mall, Louis Road, BJB College, and concluded at the historic Rajarani Temple. Thousands of participants, including sports enthusiasts, youth groups, differently-abled individuals, local residents, and senior officials, took part with great enthusiasm, pledging to promote and safeguard Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.
In the competitive race, Chandan Samal secured first place, followed by Siddharth Kumar Mishra in second, and Vijay Agrawal in third. The winners were felicitated with medals, along with all participants being honored by the Sports and Youth Services Department for their active participation.
Speaking as the chief guest, a distinguished Ekamra MLA highlighted that the marathon was not just a sporting event but also a meaningful effort to connect the younger generation with Odisha’s heritage. “Our ancient temples and monuments symbolize Odia pride, and it is our moral responsibility to preserve and celebrate this legacy,” the MLA said.
