
Bhubaneswar, 05 April (H.S.): Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary has achieved a major tourism milestone, generating revenue of Rs 6.02 crore during the 2025–26 financial year, officials said.
The sanctuary recorded a footfall of over 1.4 lakh visitors in the past year, highlighting its growing prominence as a leading eco-tourism destination in Odisha. The tourist influx also included international visitors from around 10 countries, such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and France, reflecting its increasing global appeal.
Officials noted that sustainable tourism initiatives have significantly enhanced visitor experiences while supporting local livelihoods. Around 123 community members have been provided employment opportunities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
Homestay facilities in and around the sanctuary have emerged as a key attraction, offering tourists an immersive experience of local culture and natural surroundings. These efforts have promoted responsible tourism while ensuring direct benefits to local communities.
