Lakhimpur (Assam), 03 April (HS): A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his six-year-old daughter inside a moving train at Silanibari station in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on Friday, officials said.

The incident occurred at around 9:15 AM inside a general coach of the 15813 Dekargaon–Murkongselek Express. Following the incident, personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot and detained the accused father.

After recording statements of eyewitnesses and completing necessary formalities, the train resumed its journey from Silanibari at around 10:58 AM.

The motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained. The accused has been handed over to the GRP along with the child’s body for further legal action, officials added.------------
