Guwahati, 03 April (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will secure between 9 and 11 seats in the Barak Valley region in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
Interacting with the media, Sarma described Barak Valley as a key electoral battleground where the party expects significant gains. He attributed this optimism to the BJP’s strong organizational network and sustained grassroots outreach, which he said has resonated well with voters.
The Chief Minister voiced particular confidence about winning the Hailakandi constituency, stating that the party is “100© sure” of its victory there. Referring to Algapur, he acknowledged ongoing public discussions but maintained that the final results would reflect the party’s performance on the ground.
Targeting the opposition, Sarma questioned the scale of their campaign efforts. Mentioning Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi, he asked how many public rallies had been conducted by opposition leaders. He asserted that the BJP focuses more on extensive outreach and direct voter engagement rather than exaggerated Compain.
Reiterating confidence in the party’s broader prospects, Sarma projected that the BJP could win between 90 and 100 seats across Assam, emphasizing the strategic importance of Barak Valley in the party’s overall electoral plan.
Polling for the Assam Assembly elections is scheduled for April 9, while counting of votes will take place on May 4.--------------
