Varanasi, April 29 (HS): Prime
Minister Narendra Modi departed from Bareka Guest House this morning on the
final day of his two-day visit to Varanasi to pay obeisance at the golden court
of Baba Vishwanath, the ruler of Kashi. As soon as the Prime Minister's convoy
reached the main gate of Bareka, BJP workers gave Prime Minister Modi a grand
welcome, like a victorious hero, amid the sound of conch shells and a shower of
flowers.
As
the Prime Minister's convoy proceeded to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, BJP
workers showered rose petals along the way, beating drums and chanting
Modi, Modi! Workers and citizens chanted Jai Jai Shri
Ram and Har Har Mahadev. Seeing the enthusiasm of the women
workers and citizens, the Prime Minister's convoy also slowly moved forward.
The
Prime Minister will conduct a road show via Kakarmatta ROB, Manduwadih Square,
and then via the Phulwaria flyover to Hockey Square on Central Jail Road. From
here, he will proceed via JP Mehta Square, Ambedkar Square, Kachari Golghar,
and Police Line Square. From Police Line Square, he will travel via Maqbool
Alam Road, Chowkaghat, Lahurabir, Kabirchaura, and Maidagin, covering a
distance of approximately 14 km to reach the temple.
BJP
Varanasi district and metropolitan unit set up five welcome points in a
distance of about 14 kilometers.
At each welcome point, citizens and BJP
workers standing on both sides of the road, seeing the Prime Minister in the
convoy of vehicles, raised loud slogans of Modi-Modi. The Prime Minister,
overwhelmed by the affection and love of the citizens of Kashi, kept accepting
the greetings of the citizens, sometimes by folding his hands and occasionally
by waving his hands. The workers, eagerly waiting to welcome the Prime
Minister, remained at the welcome point since early morning.
Women and children were also seen excited on
the roofs and balconies of their houses to see the Prime Minister on the way
and shower flowers on him. Seeing the youth and women standing on both sides of
the barricades built on the roadside, the Prime Minister also accepted their
greetings with folded hands. People stood at the barricades for a long time to
get a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Before this, traffic was made zero from
Maidagin to Shrikashi Vishwanath Dham for the Prime Minister's road show.
Pedestrians were also made to stay on the side of the road. At 7 am, Additional
Police Commissioner Shivhari Meena inspected from Maidagin to Kashi Vishwanath.
Movement of vehicles was stopped. The road was cleared for the road show.
