CM Majhi Unveils ₹1,330 Crore Development Package for Kendujhar

Bhubaneswar, 29 April (H.S.): Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated and laid the foundation for several key projects in Kendujhar district, marking a significant step towards holistic development and world-class transport infrastructure.

The Chief Minister announced a total of 187 projects with an estimated investment of over ₹1,330 crore. This includes the foundation laying for 62 projects valued at approximately ₹705 crore and the inauguration of 24 completed projects that cost around ₹251 crore. Additionally, a new package of about ₹375 crore was introduced for 101 upcoming projects to accelerate the district's growth.

To enhance urban mobility, the Chief Minister launched 25 state-of-the-art e-buses and inaugurated an 'Ama Bus' depot, built at a cost of ₹17 crore. This service aims to provide affordable commuting options, with fares starting at just ₹5, making it accessible for daily commuters, particularly those from low and middle-income groups. All buses are fully air-conditioned and feature advanced safety measures, including CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and GPS tracking systems, ensuring a secure travel experience—especially for women passengers.

This initiative also significantly contributes to women empowerment, generating around 150 employment opportunities, including 30 women guides and 2 women drivers, reflecting the government's commitment to inclusive growth.

During his address, the Chief Minister noted that while Kendujhar has significantly contributed to the state's economy, it has previously faced neglect. He emphasized that development has gained momentum under the current government and announced that plans for a mega steel plant in the district are in the final stages, which will position Kendujhar as a major industrial hub in the country.

From an environmental standpoint, the e-bus service is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 330 to 390 tonnes annually. The Chief Minister also shared plans to expand this service to other cities in the state, with around ₹238 crore allocated for its maintenance and growth. He highlighted that this initiative will establish Odisha as a leader in green mobility.

The Chief Minister encouraged citizens to view the next decade as a decade of determination for Odisha, with the goal of building a prosperous state by 2036, where Kendujhar plays a crucial role.

During the event, financial assistance totaling ₹5.75 lakh was distributed among six beneficiaries from the district under various schemes. The gathering included several public representatives and senior officials, including members of the district planning committee, MPs, MLAs, and administrative officers.
